about
I wrote this song to take a deeper look into how the young men and women that live a street life or follow a dis-functional path got that way. There are many contributing factors but they usually begin with broken family or lack of loving parental guidance. Most of the time they wish they could change because they know they aren't living the life they want, yet they feel that there is no other way. Understanding their situation allows you to exercise compassion to help show them an alternative path. Telling this story from the thugs perspective that was killed due to his lifestyle, shows that the individual regretted his lifestyle and felt it could all have been changed had he been raised differently. I will end by saying that it doesn't matter where you were raised, being loved and accepted in our elementary and intermediate years makes all the difference. A lack of this will cause any person to be dis-functional regardless of the setting. It just so happens that I identify with street cats, being that I was raised by the street and Hip-Hop culture of Houston, TX. Just trying to shed some light so others in the dark can see.
